Beschreibung:

Rare "Sousa" Talk-O-Phone Gramophone, 1906 By Talk-O-Phone Co. Toledo, Ohio. With original soundbox, triple-spring motor, metal horn and oak case decorated with pressed-wood eagle relief, good original working condition. The Talk-O-Phone Co. produced a range of high-quality gramophones from 1902 till 1907. The machines were named after celebrated American musicians, presumably without their authorization. The composer and conductor John Philip Sousa was already under contract with Victor, ruling out the use of his name by a competitor. Not only did Talk-O-Phone run the risk of legal action for using the name of a Victor artist on one of its own machines, the firm also infringed Emile Berliner's patent which had been acquired by Victor. The courts ruled in Victor's favour, leading Talk-O-Phone to cease production. – A luxury model and one of the last produced by the firm! Seltenes Grammophon "Talk-O-Phone", Modell Sousa, 1906 Hersteller: Talk-O-Phone Co. Toledo, Ohio, USA.
