Title printed in red and black, double-page map of Jerusalem (repeated, with quire signature H2), double-page map of the Holy Land, numerous woodcut text illustrations by Virgil Solis and others. (Title rehinged and with extreme fore-margin a little frayed, first double-page plan with neat tear at centre and small marginal tears, lightly browned, occasional neat marginal flaw or tear, split at fold of Holy Land map, lacking folding genealogical tree, but with the map in duplicate.) German blindstamped pigskin over bevelled wooden boards dated 1565, panels of heads-in-medallion and saints roll-tools, two fore-edge clasps (missing leather catches, later endpapers, some damage at board fore-edges.) FIRST EDITION of a richly illustrated history of the city of Jerusalem. The bird's-eye view of the city shows all its gates, buildinds, and surrounding hills. Adams R-340; BLSTC German, p. 731.
