RICHTHOFEN, Baron MANFRED, VON ("The Red Baron") (1892-1918). Photograph postcard signed ("F.M. Richthofen"), by C.J. von Dühren, Berlin (imprint from negative), n.d. [circa 1918]. 135 x 84 mm. (5 5/16 x 3 5/16 in.), light crease crossing upper blank portion of image, minor wear at bottom edge. A shoulder-length portrait of the war ace, boldly signed across the lower portion of the image. "The legendary 'Red Baron' made eighty enemy kills during his career as a German World War I combat pilot before he himself was shot down by a Canadian gunner. The baron was later immortalized as Snoopy's fiendish adversary in Charles Shultz's 'Peanuts'"--W.M.
