Pair of Murals two sections of a mural by Robert Wadsworth Grafton from the Construction of the First Dam Over the Elkhart River, which formerly hung in the First National Bank of Elkhart each oil on masonite the larger portion, 45" x 32" the smaller portion, 31" x 24" Robert Grafton was born in Chicago and studied at the Art Institute of Chicago. His spent a significant amount of time in Paris and Holland during his formative years before returning to the United States, when he became best known for his work in New Orleans. Grafton was also a muralist, whereby several exist in Indiana, Chicago, and in New Orleans, done in collaboration with fellow artist Louis Oscar Griffith (American, 1875-1956), who was born in Indiana and also worked for a period in New Orleans. Lot includes photographs of the full mural and other documentation. Condition: Surface dirt, otherwise fine condition.
