ROEMER, Johann Jakob. Genera insectorum Linnaei et Fabricii iconibus illustrata , Winterthur: Heinrich Steiner, 1789. 4 (263 x 206mm.), hand-coloured engraved vignette on title, 37 plates, all but one hand-coloured by and after J. R. Schellenberg (lower margin of text very lightly waterstained, a few occasional spots to plates), contemporary half calf (rebacked and recornered). Provenance : inscription of the Sowerby Museum on title, bookplate of William Sowerby. FIRST EDITION. A loosely-inserted cataloguing note associates two letters, which are tipped-into this copy, with James Sowerby One letter, tipped-in at the back, states that this copy was given to Sowerby and a receipt from Mr Sowerby to H. Escher over 2 guineas is tipped-in at the front. Nissen ZBI 3462.
