ROGER EXCOFFON (1910-?) TPG / INTERNATIONAL PRINTING EXHIBITION. 1956. 25 3/4x19 1/2 inches, 65 1/2x49 1/2 cm. S.E.P.I.C., Paris. Condition A: minor restoration at edges. Excoffon was a renowned French typographer whose Chambord, Antique Olive and Mistral typefaces are recognized throughout the world. He also ran an advertising agency through which he represented Air France and Perrier, amongst others prominent clients. For his posters, he often employed brushstroke-like flourishes, or sweeps of ink, to help evoke the subject. Here, for the Salon Techniques Papetières et Graphiques, he combines both his typography and his signature calligraphic touch to promote a printing exhibition.
