The introductory leaf contains a portion of the letter from Burroughs to Ginsberg in which he sent the draft, plus the following statement "This routine was bricked out of the City Lights Volume by paranoid printers in England. It was first stomped into print in Floating Bear #9." Indeed, the piece was censored from the City Lights' Yage Letters by the Villiers Press in London. Also in the printing statement on the final page is "printed, published, & zapped at a secret location in the lower east side, new york city, Jan 1964. TOTAL ASSAULT ON THE CULTURE!"
