The carriage body having a hinged roof, perhaps to hold cigarettes, the external front and rear seats also hinged, possibly for matches, the whole with enamelled decoration of figure groups in the late 18th Century style, including courting couples, amorini, and a mounted lady with attendant, over eight-spoke wheels, apparently unmarked, 23.5cm long x 15cm high, mounted on an ebonised wooden base with plaque engraved "THIS MODEL OF A ROYAL STATE COACH was the property of NICHOLAS CZAR OF RUSSIA and was taken from the Palace of Tsarkof Selo BY REVOLUTIONARIES IN 1917", together with two fragmentary newspaper cuttings, undated but probably circa 1950-60, relating to the sale of a "Replica Tsar's Coach" in Blackpool for 200 Guineas, the description of the provenance closely matching the current example
