Russian Porcelain Coffee Service Possibly Batenin Manufactory, second quarter of the 19th century Comprising a coffee pot, with a dragon head spout; two-handled covered sugar bowl; cream jug; and four cups and four saucers; each decorated with a band of colorful blossoms against a gold ground, unsigned. Height of coffee pot 10 3/4 inches. C
Each appears to be in generally good condition with the following exceptions: areas of extensive wear to the gilding, most notably to the lips of the cups and rim edges of the cream jug and coffee pot; there is restoration to the top rim edge of one of the cups, approximately 1 1/2 inches in length and elliptical in shape; a second cup has a chip loss to the underside of its top rim edge; the finial on the cover of the sugar bowl appears to have been professionally restored and overpainted; there is an orange-red paint splotch located on the interior side of the upper rim of the sugar bowl; there is a chip loss to the inner porcelain rim near where the cover comes into contact with the opening of the coffee pot; unmarked; not blacklighted
