Scarce complete copy with the third volume, often missing from other copies. It contains 48 fine-coloured plates with numerous details of the insects described in the text. Nissen 3619.
3 volumes bound in 2, quarto (222 x 188mm). Half-title to vol. III, 3 titles with engraved vignettes printed in bistre, engraved portrait of the author, 48 engraved plates all coloured by a contemporary hand, one of which folding (portrait cropped at head into image and the plate almost loose, occasional light insignificant soiling). Contemporary half calf (extremities rubbed, more heavily to head and foot of spines and corners with a little associated loss). Provenance: engraved armorial bookplates on versoes of titles with caption 'Insignia Ulmeriana' – occasional neat annotation in ink to plates.
