Autograph letter signed ('Egon Schiele') to Ludwig Karl Strauch, 31 Grünbergstrasse, Vienna, [postmarked 19 January 1911], acknowledging a debt ('Ich weiß daß ich Ihnen 50 K schuldig bin'); his group exhibition [at the Galerie Miethke from 24 April to 15 May] will be settled for in February; for the moment he has little to live on, one page, 8vo , envelope. Provenance : Ludwig Strauch; and by descent.

Provenance : Ludwig Strauch; and by descent. Ludwig Karl Strauch was Schiele's art teacher at the Klosterneuburg Realgymnasium and he played a crucial role in convincing Schiele's family of his artistic potential. Discussion of his debts is the constant theme of Schiele's letters at this period. (2)
