SGRILLI, Bernardo Sansone. Descrizione della regia villa, fontane, e fabbriche di Pratolino. Florence: 1742. 2° (325 x 230mm). 27pp. text. Etched head- and tailpiece and two initials. 12 folding etched plans and views, 6 by Della Bella and 6 by Sgrilli. Contemporary half morocco, patterned endpapers (slight loss to edges of paper on covers). A FINE COPY OF THE FIRST EDITION, including an important series of etchings by della Bella of the famous fountains and gardens at Pratolino. The Medici villa Pratolino was demolished in 1824, and the gardens remodelled during the 19th-century. All that remains of the original vision is Giambologna's gigantic statue of Appennino. The plates are all in their second or third states with numbers added. The first of Della Bella's plates has an engraved title added beneath, a state not recorded by de Vesme Massar.
