London: Smith, Elder & Co., 1907-14. A complete, limited edition, set of the cornerstone of Antarctic bibliography—in fine, bright condition. Volumes 1 and 2 are no. 151 from an edition of 350, while volume 3 is no. 181 from an edition of 350. This set is an exact reproduction of the original South Polar Times , a collection of articles, stories, poems and drawings produced monthly by the shore parties of the National Antarctic Expedition, led by Robert Falcon Scott during the winters of 1902 and 1903. With a facsimile of the magazine edited by Cherry-Garrard during the Terra Nova expedition in 1910-1913. Renard 1433-34; Rosove 287.A1 and 291.A2.a; Spence 1094; Taurus 42 & 49. Three volumes, quarto (280 x 206mm). Half-titles; color frontispieces, titles in red and black in vols. 1-2, text and title in red and blue in vol. 3; plates and illustrations, some chromolithographic, after Herbert Ponting Edward Wilson and others (frontispiece detached in vol. 1).
