Sheridan (Richard Brinsley, playwright and politician, 1751-1816).- Suffolk & Buckinghamshire.- Grubbe Family.- Grubbe (John Eustace, magistrate, parliamentary agent and Mayor of Southwold, of the Grubbe family of Priory House, Blythburgh, Suffolk and Horsenden House, Buckinghamshire, 1816-99) Transcriptions of wills, indentures and deeds relating to members of the Grubbe family, 4 vol., autograph manuscript, c. 1600pp. excluding blanks, 2 vol. with bookplates of John Eustace Grubbe on front pastedowns, some slight browning, 2 vol. original calf, 2 vol. original half calf, slightly rubbed, vol. James Edward Vicar of Bray, Berkshire, Jane Austen's favourite nephew and author of "The Memoir of Jane Austen", 1798-1874).- Fosbury (William, ?of Burghclere, Hampshire) Memorandum of baptisms and burials in the parish of Burghclere, 3 entries relating to Rev. James Edward Austen Leigh, mostly by Rev. William Brudenell Barter, Rev. Robert Speckott Barter and others, manuscript, 100pp., some entries in pencil, reverse entries, slightly browned, original rain, rubbed, brass clasp, 117 x 81mm., 1821-35; sm. 4to (5) ⁂ The first is transcripts of deeds and other agreements in Suffolk, Buckinghamshire and elsewhere. Includes Wills from the 16th century to a grant of land in Prince Edward Island in Canada, and several transcripts of agreements with Richard Brinsley Sheridan and the Theatre Royal, such as a tripartite indenture between Sheridan, John Grubbe and patrons of the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in 1802, outlining the conditions of their partnership. The Sheridan-Grubb papers concerning John Grubbe's investment in the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, and correspondence with Richard Brinsley Sheridan are held at the Harvard Theatre Collection, Harvard University (MS Thr 527).
