Foreword by Hugh Hefner. Illustrated from paintings by Alberto Vargas a.k.a. Varga. Cloth-backed boards, pictorial jacket. First Edition. Inscribed by Alberto Vargo to Stan Beecher on half-title, "To Stan Beecher a friend of Jim Camperos / I hope you enjoy 'My Girls' as much as I like painting them / Alberto Vargas Feb. 9th 1979". Additionally inscribed on acknowledgments page from Camperos to Beecher "To my friend Stan, I hope you enjoy reading this book & keeping it as a prized possession in your collection, as much as I enjoyed helping to make it a reality. Thank you for everything / Jim Camperos Feb 1979." Jim Camperos was a personal friend of Vargas' and a collector who was interviewed extensively in the 2012 Vargas documentary The Soul of the Pin-Up. On the acknowledgments page Vargas pays this tribute to Camperos "To Jim Camperos who through endless inextinguishable enthusiasm made miracles, unearthing things vital to this volume's success, organizing photo sessions et al., my admiration and respect." Of particular note in this copy is the p. 79 tribute Vargas pays to his muse and wife Anna Mae Vargas who died in 1974. Vargas has written her name next to the reproduction of the pastel painting "The Last Follies", a portrait of Anna Mae when she was a performer in the Ziegfield Follies. It is said that all Varga girls are a variation on Anna Mae Vargas.
