(Sir John) The Boke of Husbandry, black letter, with blank between B1&2, ink marginalia to A3, lacks title (A1), A2, B1 and N1&2 (all provided in facsimile on old paper), short tear to G3 within text, but with no loss, water-stained, later calf, rebacked in modern calf, [Fussell pp.4-7; McDonald pp.13-23; STC 10995.5], 8vo, [Imprinted at London in Fletestrete in the house of Thomas Berthelet, nere to the condite at the sygne of Lucrece], [?1533]. *** Rare in any condition. We can trace no copies at auction in the last 25 years. This one of six copies recorded on ESTC. This edition appeared only some ten years after the extremely rare first edition of 1523, which is considered to be the first English book on farming, preceeded only by Littleton's Tenures. 'of major importance in any collection' (Hunt).: Contemporary ink note re. a piece of pasture land to outer margin of A3; Bent Juel-Jensen (bookplate).
