(Sir William, antiquary and herald, 1605-86) Certificate signed by Dugdale as Norroy King of Arms, appointing two deputies in York to receive pedigrees in support of claims for the right to display arms, large engraved initial letter "T" and first line printed, the rest in manuscript, on vellum, decorated margins ruled in red, several holes, some slightly affecting text, some surface wear and soiling, lacks seal, edges chipped, c. 324 x 435mm., 30th April 1668 bound in a copy of Dugdale's Antiquities of Warwickshire, 2 vol., title ruled in red, plates and maps, extra-illustrated by the insertion of c. 300 prints (many portraits), watercolours, and a few documents (1 relating to Buckley, 1492), title laid down, slightly creased, slightly browned throughout, some maps with repairs, modern bookplates, new endpapers, modern morocco, leather labels on spines, folio, Coventry, John Jones 1765. *** Dugdale was extremely energetic as Norroy and made visitations personally of all ten counties in his province.
