An S. Allcocks wholesale price list to be used in conjuntion with 1959 angler’s guide, this hardback working copy contains nine carded double sided pages of stock including rods, reels, hooks and spares bound in with string, together with a memo regarding fly reels dated 8th July 1959 and circulated to D A Orton, J F Oake, and H A Hall, an Allcock & Co., wholesale price list of fishing tackle, list 32, illustrated with rods, reels, baits, flies, floats, hooks and other angling accessories with descriptions, ID numbers and prices together with a gold coloured replica of an Exhibitors medal for the Exhibition of the Works of Industry of all Nations MDCCCLI (Britain’s Great Exhibition of 1851) 1¾in at which Allcocks tackle were awarded a gold medal together with the reverse strike showing H.R.H. Prince Albert President of the Royal Commission with profile image 1¾in, a replica Centennial International Exhibition Melbourne medal showing Queen Victoria in profile, 2in (in 1888 Mebourne upstaged Sidney by holding an exhibition to celebrate the Centennary of the First Fleet, it attracted around two million people and ran for six months) an Allcocks replica International Exhibition Sydney N.S.W. MDCCCLXXIX (1879) gold coloured medal 2 7/8in diameter showing a female in flowing gown on a quayside in front of a large building and surrounded by items representing Industry, The Arts and The Empire, she holds aloft a laurel wreath, above the image bear the words ‘Orta Recens Quam Pura Nites’. This medal for ‘Highest Award’ is shown amongst the many awards on the 1888 Allcocks catalogue, an Allcocks replica Calcutta International Exhibition 1883-84 (held in the building used by the Indian Museum, opened by The Viceroy of India, Lord Ripon) gold coloured medal 2in diameter showing Queen Victoria in profile. This ‘Gold Award’ medal is shown amongst the many awards on the 1892 Allcocks catalogue and an Allcocks replica Exposition Internationale Bruxelles 1897 gold coloured medal 2¾in with three raised figures, the central woman with outstretched arms representing Belgium bring a man representing Industry, and woman The Arts, together to shake hands, the text arcing the top of the image, the original medal engraved by Jules Lagae made by Wolfers. Accompanied by a photocopy of an original hand written note dated October 1952 that reads: ‘Additional copies (replicas) of medals not a complete set, originals in strong room and set of replicas’. These examples have been offered following the closure of the Allcocks companies.
