Lot consists of two sixth plate daguerreotypes depicting men who have been blinded, either by accident or art birth. The elder of the pair carries a walking stick and closes one eye, while the younger man keeps both eyes open, revealing his empty right socket. Provenance:Charles A. and Frances Swedlund Collection of Early Photography Condition: Both images have been separated from their covers with additional wear to corners and edges of their pressed paper cases. Glass is free of cracks but some light scratches may be present. Image of older subject shows some deterioration. Both images have dated replacement seals.
