Boone, Squire (1744-1815). American pioneer and brother of Daniel Boone Autographed document signed, 1p, Richmond, August 13, 1782. Contains a seal and watermark of the English crown. The document promises to pay Nelson Hinon and Co. the sum of fifty five hundred pounds of tobacco. Similar to his famous brother, Squire Boone was an American frontiersman and trail blazer. Boone accompanied his brother Daniel on the Wilderness Road, which went through the Cumberland Gap and into central Kentucky. While clearing the land for more settlers, Boone battled against Indians several times. He was wounded in the arm twice, which made his right arm an inch and a half shorter than his left. He settled with his family in several untamed parts of the Kentucky wilderness, establishing the first permanent settlement in Shelby County, Squire Boone's Station. He established another settlement near Vicksburg, Mississippi. A man of the wild even in death, his family buried Boone in a cave on his property in Harrison County, Indiana. Condition: Toning of the paper and some typical folds.
