LIZ NEAL (BRITISH B. 1973) Green lady 2003 oil on canvas 153 x 120 cm ARR Provenance: STORE Gallery, London Acquired from the above by the present owner in 2004 Artist Description: Liz Neal uses a myriad of mix media from textiles to canvas; often re-assembling the materials physically and thus re-imagining the “royal subjects” themselves and the symbolic representation they once held. Remnants of cloth are re-worked into new visual dialogues. Each fragment of fabric carrying with it a little history of its own, creating layers of novel meaning. This is re-appropriation, recycling and collage. Old stories into new, her work has an earthy nobility about it merging painterly rhapsodies with a coarse grittiness.
