STOBAEUS, Johannes. Sententiae ex thesauris Graecorum delectae. Basel: Johann Oporinus for Christoph Froschauer, August 1549. 2° (312 x 215mm). Text in double columns in Greek and Latin, historiated woodcut initials. (Title a little soiled, with a small hole and long closed clean tear, light spotting and browning throughout, upper margin of a few leaves with a small tear.) Contemporary panelled calf, decorated in blind with roll-tool borders of circular small portraits and floral motifs, single stamps of a bird repeated between both panels, initials ‘I C D’ and date 1559 on front cover (rubbed, head and tail of spine damaged). Provenance : ‘I.C.D.’ (binding) -- Christian Gabriel Fischer, Königsberg (1686-1751, bookplate) – extensive annotations in red and black on front endpaper and title, manuscript index at end, occasional marginal annotations in black.
