Modern grey wrappers, red cloth portfolio. Provenance : Carl-Bertel Nathhorst. FIRST EDITION of this 'masterly satire,' published 31 December 1733. Despite the imprint, there is no evidence of an earlier Dublin edition though both Edinburgh and Dublin editions followed in the new year. Hayward 153; Foxon S-888; Rothschild 2147; Teerink 741. [STERNE, Laurence (1713-1768)]. A Sentimental Journey through France and Italy . London: T. Becket and P.A. de Hondt, 1768. 2 volumes, 8° (167 x 101mm), Sterne's engraved coat-of-arms on D3v (some browning, particularly affecting vol. II, occasional dust-soiling, without the advertisement leaf). Contemporary calf-backed marbled boards, uncut (spines neatly restored), morocco pull-off case by Sangorski and Sutcliffe.
