Mann, Thomas and Golo Mann TWO AUTOGRAPH LETTERS AND ONE TYPED LETTER SIGNED MANN, Thomas. Two autograph letters signed ("Thomas Mann"): one in German, to his friend Georges Motschan, noting that he has led a crazy life and that he cannot find proper rest here on account of a backload of work, asking why he did not put in an appearance when he was reading in Basel, and stating that he hopes in future to come every year; the other, in French, to the conductor Pierre Monteux, offering his sympathy on learning of the violent murder of members of his family by the Nazis ("...Je ne saurais vous dire avec quels sentiments d'horreur et de dégoût j'ai appris ces nouvelles..."), and expressing the wish that he may find consolation in his marvellous art, 2 pages, 8vo and oblong 8vo, one on a postcard showing Flims-Waldhaus, the postcard dated Flims, 27 June 1947 MANN, Golo. Typed letter signed ("Golo Mann"), to Frau Kalisch, informing her that the talk he gave on the causes of war was made from notes, and that consequently there is no fair-copy manuscript that he could make available to her, 1 page, 4to, on printed stationery of the writer, Kilchberg am Zürichsee, 29 March 1962
