"[Goldschmidt] hat sich besonders durch seine Talmud-Ausgabe und deren deutsche Übersetzung verdient gemacht, die erste, die durch eine Einzelperson hergestellt und ohne Subvention durchgeführt wurde." – Kostete bei Erscheinen pro Band 125 Mark (ein kleines Vermögen) und war mit den vorliegenden acht Bänden abgeschlossen. Im Jahre 1929 wurde der Talmud mit anderer Bandaufteilung im Oktavformat neu aufgelegt; diese Ausgabe wurde schließlich bis 1936 um weitere Teile des Talmud ergänzt (genaue Aufstellung im GV). – Hinterer Vorsatz von Bd. IV leicht läd., Innengelenke von Bd. VII laienhaft restauriert, alle Bde. gering gebräunt, vereinzelt etw. fleckig. When published, each volume of this Talmud edition had a price of 125 Marks (a small fortune) and the entire publication comprised 8 volumes. There was a reissue in 8vo with a different volume splitting in 1929; further parts of the Talmud were added to this edition until 1936 (exact list in GV). – Lower endpaper of vol. IV slightly damaged, inner joints of vol. VII unprofessionally restored, all volumes minimally browned, occasionally a little soiled. – Original half calf (spine of vol. VII restored [joint broken], signs of wear).
