Freycinet sur la Naturaliste ventose An 10 [February-March 1802]', autograph manuscript on paper (watermark: Beehive - HONIG - J.H. & Z), by Henri de Freycinet, after a survey by his brother Louis, ink and watercolour, grid in pencil, scale, soundings, and markings denoting the position of both the Géographe and the Naturaliste , also border in ink, with some contemporary annotations in pencil (nautical directions) including an alteration to the coastline, autograph annotation by Freycinet ('toute cette partie de cote est tres boisée' [wooded], margins soiled, not affecting chart, 18¼ x 26¼in. (46.3 x 66.5cm.), Tasmania (east coast), February 1802. A fine detailed survey of the eastern coast of Tasmania including Cape Bougainville, part of Maria Island and Oyster Bay. This chart is annotated on the verso in a nineteenth-century hand 'No 7'. This is in the same hand as Lots 2 and 12.
