[1853?]. 2 1/2 pages, 12mo, triangular blank portion of second leaf torn and renewed, that leaf neatly inlaid and backed, cloth protective folder, a fair copy, comprising thirteen 4-line stanzas, the last two reading: "Take, Madam, this poor book of song... And leave us scions of your blood As noble to the latest day May children of our children say She wrought her people lasting good." Accompanied by an autograph letter of an unidentified person, dated 12 April 1853, forwarding the manuscript, described as "the original draft of Tennyson's dedicatory poem to the Queen, prefixed to the last collected edition of his poems. It differs materially from that printed"; an ALS of Tennyson, 7 November n.y., 1 page, 12mo, inlaid and backed, regarding terms for publication of an ode (probably his International Exhibition Ode, 1862); and an albumen print photograph of the poet. TICKNOR'S COPY, signed and dated March 1877 on verso of front endleaf, with a note in his hand: "4 copies printed" and listing the recipients as G.L. Craik, Thomas Bailey Aldrich, James R.Osgood and himself; engraved frontispiece and six full-page engraved plates, wood-engraved illustrations in the text. (2)
