Beschreibung:

presented to Ugo Sivocci for his success at the wheel of the 'RL' Alfa Romeo in the 1923 event, together with another similar trophy awarded as the drivers trophy for the Coppa Acerbo, each unit formed as a bronze Tazza on tripartite figural supports formed as seated putti on square pedestal and platform base, surmounted by a large Bronze bell and late Victorian chiming movement.(2) Note: Ugo Sivocci drove for Alfa Romeo between the years 1920 and 1923. The 'RL' was debuted at the Targa Florio in 1923 and with Sivocci at the wheel, went on to win the event, instantly becoming known as the 'RL Targa Florio'. Tragically, in the same year, Sivocci lost his life at the Italian Grand Prix trials at Monza. Before his death, these two Bronze trophies were cast and presented to Sivocci for his successes at both the Targa Florio and the Coppa Acerbo, each bearing the four-leaf clover, this being the drivers lucky charm. In the 1930s, the trophies were passed to Rinaldo Piaggio of Piaggio Scooters and then to his great friend in 1938, Lord Charles Cheers Wakefield. Over the years one of the trophies has lost its Bell, however the Targa Florio example is complete and both bases are present.
