Considered one of the earliest Confederate imprints produced on the eve of secession, this address served as a rallying cry to slaveholding states to join the Confederacy and argued that owning slaves was a Constitutional right. It states, in part: "South Carolina, having again assembled her people in Convention, has this day dissolved her connexion with the States, constituting the United States...We ask you to join us, in forming a Confederacy of Slaveholding States." Parrish & Willingham 3749. Condition: Central horizontal fold in booklet. Green stamps / marks on cover. Water stain lower left and across lower margin internally. Does not affect text significantly.
