(8vo) 9½x 6½", green cloth, spine lettered in gilt, top edge gilt, other edges untrimmed. One of 1004 copies. Revised Edition. Accounts of and narratives by William Henry Ashley, Jedediah Strong Smith, Harrison G. Rogers, and others. The Zamorano 80 calls it "The source-book of Jedediah Strong Smith, trapper and trader, and the first white man to enter California overland from the eastern United States." Many portions of the revised edition were rewritten by the author in light of newly discovered material, especially the fragmentary Smith journals which had become available subsequently. Clark & Brunet I, 55; Clark & Brunet II, 63. Lot Amendments Condition: Uncut pages, near fine. Lots sold without reserve are sold “as Is” and are not returnable under any circumstances.
