One of 810 copies. First Edition. Accounts of and narratives by William Henry Ashley, Jedediah Strong Smith, Harrison G. Rogers, and others. The Zamorano 80 calls it "The source-book of Jedediah Strong Smith, trapper and trader, and the first white man to enter California overland from the eastern United States." Re-published in 1941 by the same publisher, scarce in both editions. Howes D21; Zamorano Eighty 25. Lot Amendments Condition: Some light stains to covers, spine faded, wear to ends and corners, front hinge professionally repaired; else very good, internally fine.
