(4to) 29x23 cm (11x9"), full blindstamped vellum over boards. A facsimile of the Caxton edition of 1486. With heraldic bookplate of Sir Nevile Rodwell Wilkinson on the front pastedown, with his signature in pencil on the front free endpaper, dated 1909. Wilkinson was a British Officer of Arms, British Army officer, author, and dollhouse designer. Wilkinson was appointed Ulster King of Arms in 1908, and was the last person to hold that office. As such, he was Principal Officer of Arms of Ireland, and one of the chief heraldic officers in the United Kingdom. It is not known what his qualifications for the job were, apart from his artistic abilities and his marriage to a well-born lady. Lot Amendments Condition: Some soiling, staining, foxing, and rubbing to vellum with wear and slight bumps to corners; offsetting to endpapers, toning to pages; very good. Item number: 275446
