No. 49 of 500 copies. Bligh failed in it's stated purpose to deliver the breadfruit plant to the West Indies. Bligh was subsequently given command of the Providence in a second attempt to accomplish what he had failed to do in the Bounty. The voyage was an unqualified success and was recognised as such not only by the Royal Society of Arts but by the Jamaican House of Assembly, which rewarded Bligh with a purse of 1000 guineas.
