VENERABLE MACALLAN The collector who brings this extraordinary bottle to our auction, traveled to Scotland frequently, and it was there that her and her husband became acquainted with the single malt whiskies of Scotland. They began to acquire bottles of a range of favorite malts and soon amassed a collection of rare and highly collectible Scotch whisky. The bottle you see before you was the collector’s most prized bottle –The Macallan Anniversary 50 Year Old 1928. This bottle is offered in its wooden and leather presentation case with a signed letter written from Allan Shiach, then chairman of The Macallan-Glenlivet. The letter asserts that at the time of release, in 1983 this was the oldest and rarest bottle that The Macallan has ever released; an extraordinary whisky, aged in one of the distillery’s finest casks for more than half a century. The whisky in the bottle was produced from three casks dated between 1926 and 1928. The Macallan, 50 Year Old Anniversary Malt 1928 Speyside Distilled 1928, bottled 1983, #041 of 500, natural cask strength (under strength) 38.6%, comes with letter of authenticity from Allan G.
