A collection of issues of the Chavatzelet newspaper. Jerusalem, [between 1884-1903]. Contains: Issue No. 1 of 1884; Issue No. 33 of 1891; and Issues 2-31 of 1903. Total of 32 sheets. The newspaper Chavatzelet was one of the first Hebrew newspapers in Eretz Yisrael, put out by the Chareidi circles in Jerusalem. Its founder, Rabbi Yisrael Beck began to publish it in 1863. In 1868, the newspaper passed into the hands of his son-in-law Rabbi Yisrael Dov Frumkin who published it until 1911. This newspaper took a stand on various disagreements that took place in Jerusalem and usually sided with the Chassidic kollelim. 32 cm. Good-fair condition. Stains, folding marks. Wear, especially to margins.
