Title: The Tungsten Situation Author: Place: No Place Publisher: Date: June, 1935 Description: x, 195 leaves, carbon typescript on rectos only, plus approx. 130 leaves of appendices. With approximately 75 plates, most photographs (generally 2 per plate) printed directly on sensitized paper which is bound in; captioned tissue guards. 27x21 cm (10¾x8"), red cloth with Tungsten coated letters T and W affixed to front cover. Detailed report on "the present status of tungsten, its deposits and mining and the pertinent facts connected with the tungsten business in the past, especially since 1920; to analyze the present situation as to the supply, costs, uses, and demand, and to place circumstances governing the immediate future of the metal in such order as to show what they may portend." Though the strategic and economic influences of Tungsten with regard to the United States are of prime consideration, Tungsten deposits and mining throughout the world are covered, from South America to Australia, Burma, China, Korea and elsewhere, with many of the photographs showing far-away locales. With quarter sheet of notepaper, unused, printed at top "From the desk of Bill Segerstrom." Segerstrom was both a miner and a collector, and it is assumed that the work came from his collection. Lot Amendments Condition: Light wear and rubbing of edges, rebacked but done expertly, browning of some pages; very good or better. Item number: 256948
