First Edition. A lawyer, philanthropist, and reformer, Basil Montagu is best remembered as an advocate for the reform of bankruptcy law and for the abolition of capital punishment. The present work, despite the title, is devoted not to punishment for forgery in particular, but rather to a discussion of crime and capital punishment in general, touching on psychological, moral, ethical, and practical issues. Lot Amendments Condition: Light wear and a few small stains to covers; endpapers with some light foxing and offset; very good. Item number: 274500
