Three brass Imperial grain measures, circa 1825 The largest engraved KENT, Bushel between moulded rim and foot stamped 673 cast with integral balestroid side handles, 22cm (8.5ins) high, 49cm (19.25ins) diameter (excluding handles); the second smaller but of similar form engraved KENT, Half Bushel and numbered 673, 18cm (7ins) high, 41cm (16ins) diameter (excluding handles); the third without handles, engraved KENT, Peck and numbered 673, 15cm (6ins) high, 30cm (12ins) diameter, each with various dated verification stamps to rim; with four turned oak surface levelling batons and two wooden carrying/transport cases 102cm (47ins) and 79cm (31ins) wide, (7 excluding boxes). The current lot was probably produced in response to the Weights and Measures Act of 1824 which legislated the formal introduction of Imperial units.
