Title: Three engravings from Passio, Mors et Resurrectio dn Nostri Jesu Christi Author: Stradanus (illustrator), and Philip Galle (engraver) Place: [Antwerp] Publisher: Date: [1584-87] Description: 3 hand-colored engravings, thought to be in a proof state. Each 19.5x15 cm (7¾x6"), mounted to gilt card. Superbly, and likely uniquely, hand-colored. A very rare work, among the high points of sixteenth century Dutch engraving. Stradanus (1523-1605) was born in Bruges, he trained in the shop of his father, then in Antwerp with Pieter Aertsen By 1545, he had joined the Antwerp guild of Saint Luke or painters' guild. He reached Florence in 1550, where he entered in the service of the Medici Dukes and Giorgio Vasari Lot Amendments Condition: Closely trimmed, mounted to stiff card; very good. Item number: 265268
