Author: Vivien [de Saint-Martin], L[ouis] Place: Paris Publisher: Ménard et Desenne Date: 1827 Description: With 48 copper-engraved maps (11 are double-page with one being a fold-out) on 62 full-size sheets (many of the European maps cover multiple sheets), hand-colored in outline and engraved by Giraldon-Bovinet; plus an engraved title page and table leaf. (Elephant folio) 22½x16¼, rebound in early twentieth century quarter morocco and marbled boards with original gilt-tooled and lettered morocco spine laid on, new endpapers. Phillips Atlases 767a (1834 issue). Lot Amendments Condition: Light wear to edges and spine; mild toning to contents, scattered faint foxing and finger-soiling, some tiny edge tears, bottom right corner of title page chipped; else very good to near fine overall - a sturdy and clean copy.
