Title: The Art of Putting Author: Park, Willie Place: Edinburgh Publisher: J. & J. Gray & Co. Date: 1920 Description: [8], 47 pp. Illustrated with plates from photographs. 8vo. Publisher's gilt-lettered blue cloth, original dark gray endpapers, top edge gilt, other edges untrimmed. First Edition. Park was a great early putter and although the book is rather short (47 pages), it is quite significant, and this is the scarce first edition. Other cloth colors of green and red-orange were issued by the publisher. Murdoch 589; D&M 28670; D&J P4780. Provenance: R. Otto Probst (1896-1986), of South Bend, Indiana, is considered one of the great golf book collectors, with his bookplate on the front pastedown and rubberstamp on rear pastedown. The Probst Library is one of the world's premier golf collections, showcased in the PGA Historical Center in Florida. And, ownership signature of John R. Watson on half-title. Lot Amendments Condition: Some darkening (a bit more so on spine), ends and corners lightly rubbed, soiling, a few nicks, bottom front corner bumped; still nice overall; very good or better.
