Place: Washington Publisher: Government Printing Office Date: 1910 Description: 2 volumes. xxvi, 1230; v,[1], 1231-2491 pp. (8vo) 22x13.5 cm (8¾x5½"), original red half morocco & cloth, spine lettered in gilt, marbled endpapers & edges. First Edition. Useful for the study of treaties the United States entered into, many with ramifications on borders and territorial shifts. The name J. R. Knowland stamped in gilt on the spines and his signature on flyleaf of each volume. This is undoubtedly Joseph R. Knowland (1873-1966), the American politician and newspaper publisher who served as a member of the United States House of Representatives from California from 1904 to 1915, and was owner, editor and publisher of the Oakland Tribune. Lot Amendments Condition: Some wear to joints and extremities, very good. Item number: 271061c
