The publisher of the map of Rome is unknown, but is closely based on Eufrosino de Volpaia's the Campagna Romana of 1547, commissioned by Pope Paul III, and now in the Biblioteca Apostolica Vaticana. The two maps of Tuscany are derived from the large four-sheet woodcut map by the Sienese military architect Girolamo Bell'Armato (1493-1555), published in Rome in 1536 (surviving in only one copy).
