TWO CARVED BAMBOO WRIST RESTS QING DYNASTY (1644-1911) One is finely carved with a scene of two scholars resting against the trunk of a tree in a mountainous landscape, and is inscribed with a four-character title, Yunlin xiaojing , which may be translated as 'a scene in the manner of Yunlin', followed by a cyclical date, wushen , corresponding to 1788, and a signature, Shaoxi. The other is carved with a poem titled Poetry about Immortals , by the Eastern Jin dynasty (317-420) poet Guo Pu (276-324), followed by a cyclical date, gengxu corresponding to 1790, and a signature, Shian. 14 7/8 in. and 10 15/16 in. (37.8 cm. and 27.8 cm.) long (2)
