TWO IVORY AND WOOD NETSUKE OF DOGS Catalog Number: AB0319-0227 Ivory and wood netsuke Japan, 19th century The first netsuke, more functional as an okimono, depicting a dog on a high base, holding a ball between his paws, his head movable. The base is decoratively incised on all four sides with waves and feathers, and with what, rather unusually, appears to be church towers. On one of the towers a large bird sits, presumably a crane. Good himotoshi. The second netsuke of a wood dog on a base, his head removable. His collar and the singular himotoshi inlaid in partially stained ivory.
