On the letterhead of New Directions Publishing Corporation. One envelope present. Two letters to Gregory Corso from publishers James Laughlin and Frederick R. Martin. The first, from Martin on February 1, 1978, addressed to Corso at City Lights Books in San Francisco regarding current happenings in the poet's life and a push to finish work on a volume titled "Heirlooms." Fellow poet Allen Ginsberg adds a holograph note in the blank space "Gregory - I'm in the office! Get it on! Gather ye poetic roses while ye may! Love Allen." The second letter, from James Laughlin (secretarially signed), dated July 28, 1978 with a second push to complete work on 'Heirlooms" and other friendly matters. No work by Corso title Heirlooms was ever published. Corso's next work for New Directions would be "Herald of the Autochthonic Spirit" in 1981. Mimeograph typescript, printed on one side only. 11x8½". Joint statement by three writers which declares "a common ground between three cultures, and defines the prospect for a liberty for Nicaragua independent of ambitions by either Cold-war Superpower to dominate the Nicaraguan national scene."
