TWO PALE BEIGISH-GREY AND RUSSET JADE ARCHAISTIC CARVINGS MING DYNASTY (1368-1644) One is a belt hook carved in imitation of Warring States period bronze prototypes with a bird-headed mythical beast grasping a fish between its foreclaws on the arched shaft and an animal-head hook at one end. A circular button and bullnose attachment holes are on the reverse. The other is a bi carved in high relief on one side with a dragon and a chilong confronted amidst clouds, and on the reverse with a field of fine bosses. Both are of whitish color with areas of russet brown. 4¾ in. (12 cm.) long and 3 in. (7.7 cm.) diam., wood stands (2)
