Two Porcelain Plates by the Imperial Porcelain Factory, St Petersburg, 1843 Each circular, the white ground body painted with a gilt stylized geometric design with thin gilt band inner border, the thick blue ground outer border decorated with six white ground cartouches, each framed by two rocaille flourishes, four painted with multi-coloured bouquets of flowers, the top cartouche painted with the Imperial double-headed eagle with orb and sceptre, the lower with the gilt Cyrillic monogram of Nicholas I: 'AN' beneath the Imperial Russian crown, between the cartouches a gilt geometric design, marked with dark blue underglaze Cyrillic monogram 'N I' beneath the Imperial Russian crown 9 3/8 in.
