Leaves from Schönsperger's abridged edition of Hartmann Schedel's Nuremberg Chronicle, the so-called "small Schedel ". The woodcut Illustrations in the Augsburg edition are more numerous than those in the Nuremberg edition. Schönsperger did not have the original blocks, since his were pirated editions, so he had to employ artists to make new woodcuts. Since the format of his book is considerably smaller than that of the Nuremberg editions, so are his illustrations. Lot Amendments Condition: Slight staining, some ripping of one page and traces of mounting tape; very good. Not examined out of frame. Item number: 247260
