Two rare Chelsea porcelain Commedia Dell'arte figures, circa 1756, modelled as a male his female companion, each dressed in green, tallest 16.5cm high (heavy damages and repairs) (2) Literature: Provenance: The Peter Bradshaw Collection, illustrated by Bradshaw, 18th Century English Porcelain Figures (1981), colour plate B. Bradshaw suggests that the female model is after a Meissen original of Amorata from the Commedia dell'Arte series, as she would most likely have originally held a mask and fan. Other Meissen figures may have provided the inspiration, including a model known as Isabella. Most likely this is an original creation by Joseph Willems and it is worth noting similarities to the Chelsea figure sometimes called Isabella, which is usually attributed to Willems, see Margaret Legge, Flowers and Fables (1984), p 40, fig l59 Note: Provenance: Linley Hall, Shropshire
